Nice was a great stopover to relax on the beach and enjoy some alcohol (hmm, ok, so the alcohol bit could probably be applied to every city, but anyway...). It was brilliant weather while we were there (yes, that's right, I've started speaking like the English already) and we had a nice dinner at a French restaurant where wine came by the litre (oh well, it still beats the cask stuff!). Despite it's reputation as a great beach, the fact that pebbles/rocks substituted for sand just really didn't cut it for me. The water was a gorgeous blu and lovely and warm, but the rocks actually made it quite dangerous getting in and out of the water. On the second night we ventured over the border into Monaco to check out how the rich people live. As you can see from the photo they aren't doing too badly there! I think my highlight was the self-cleaning toilets in the grand casino - seriously, it was cool!
