Lucy's Travels
Monday 20th March - Arrived in Phangan around midday after a 50min ferry crossing to meet lots of crazy Thai people trying to sell accommodation. Our bible (the lonely planet) told us not to go with these people as they are paid on commission and take you to places on the other side of the island with no electricity. We decided to walk not knowing where we were going but had an idea of a few guesthouses on the island. We eventually found one that the book said was a good choice and had a little shack/bungalow right next to the beach with a hammock! We stayed in a place called Haad Rin Nok, which is the side the sun rises, where the full moon parties take place. It is the 'in-place' to stay and get busy partying.
Tuesday 21st March - Up early to explore bits of the island but at present the island is still fairly undeveloped, so roads are just dirt tracks and maps dont exist! Hoever, we were pretty happy where we were so decided to give exploring a knock on the head for this island. In the evening we went to a eatery and had a cheap meal and drink whilst watching the film 'Munich'. All day bars and restaurants have their own cinema and play new release films. It is a geat way to eat your dinner or escape from the sun!
Wednesday 22nd March - Spent all day on the beach but had lunch with 'Lock Stock' and then in the evening went to a bar called 'Cactus' where they serve 'fish bowls' and expect you to sit on retro rugs on the floor with an oil lamp. Its a great atmosphere because there is lots going on and youre back on the beach watching the night sky. There were also entertainers doing tricks with fire, whilst we listened to the latest hip hop and RnB - It was really cool!!!
Thursday 23rd March - Caught the ferry back to Koh Samui
