It was sunny when we woke up so we knew it was time to sky dive wooo!!! They picked us up on time and we went to the office where we signed our lives away and watched the video of the last guy to jump. It looked awesome but so scary! I hate signing the papers here though because they always say basically even if I die because of their negligence they aren't to blame. But I sign it because I want to do it.
I met my professional sky diver and we all took a bus over to the airport. He harnessed me up and we all got into the plane. I didn't realise until we started to move that we were actually going backwards. Im scared of flying normally in a big jet let alone flying backwards in a tiny little plane that I know I am about to be thrown from.
I watched as we got higher and higher. It shocked me slightly when he said right we're about half way now and I replied 'WHAT!!'. We were so high up already I couldn't believe it. We had a good chat on the way up and I looked at the view of all the hills with the rainforests on. Then we went above the clouds and he started to get me ready. We got to wear the cool plastic goggle things and he explained that when the red light comes on the door will open. He told me to take a big deep breath because it will get really windy inside. Then when the orange light goes on we move towards the door and when the green light comes on I have to wrap my legs under the plane and he will count us down to go.
Well the red light came on and it all happened as he said. Laura went first and as we were moving towards the door I saw her just disappear. That scared the life out of me. I hadn't been to nervous up to this point but with the wind blowing everywhere and just seeing my friend fall out of a plane I was now very very scared. He got me to wrap my legs underneath the plane and then we just went. No count down or anything!
The feeling was amazing though. As soon as you drop out of the plane you turn upside down and see it all amongst the clouds. The wind is so fast and you feel like you're falling for ages. It didn't have the feeling of leaving my stomach behind though which was nice. When we put up the parachute it was strange as well because I looked down and even though we were so high up it just didn't seem like it. It just looked like a patch quilt or something underneath me. I loved it and his first words were 'welcome to my office'. I want his job! I asked him how to get a sky diving licence and he explained it all and it sounds pretty easy! I may do it one day if I can save up the money; $2500.
When we were floating down I controlled the parachute and made us spin around in loads of circles. Because I did that though I lost altitude quickly and when I couldn't see Laura anywhere I was a bit confused. Landing was a lot easier than I thought as well. He just said legs up and I did it and then plopped onto my bum. It was such a rush and I really really wanted to do it again. He let me watch the video he made on his wrist camera and if you can lip read you can tell I have terrible language!
Once everyone was down we got a lift back to the office. I felt a lot better about my bungee jump now as I thought it would just be like the free fall part of the sky dive. When we got to the office they told us that the bungee jump people would pick us up from our hostel at 12.30 so we had a bit of time to go and grab something to eat and chill out a bit first.
When we got to the bungee jump site I was still feeling OK about it. I thought as long as I just jump straight away and don't hesitate Ill be fine. It wasn't until I started walking up the stairs up the tower that the nerves came rushing in. Laura and I were the only ones at the top so there was no time to think about anything. They had us sit down and tied our feet up. It's done with a towel!! They then have you waddle to the edge of the platform and I seriously could have cried.
I tried to back up as soon as I saw the edge but the guy held me there. At that point I really really didn't think I could do it, I just couldn't imagine being able to make the jump. I was shaking like crazy and the guy explained to me that it is completely natural to be like that because it is completely against your body's normal actions. He said he was going to count me down so then I knew I had to go because of what I had been telling myself. He counted down from 5…and I jumped.
It wasn't as perfect a jump as I wanted for my picture but that was the last thing on my mind. It was such a strange feeling after jumping out I felt as though I stopped there for a second and then began to drop. This time my stomach did stay at the top and I screamed my head off. After the first drop I bounced up almost to the top again and then back down until I finally stopped and was just swinging around. My top had come down a bit over my bra and I couldn't pull it up because of the harness so I was swinging there showing half of my boobs off. I had a little chat whilst upside down with some people at the viewing area before a guy in a boat came and got me.
It was such a rush and I was still shaking like mad afterwards. Laura was apparently even more scared than me and when she heard me screaming she started crying. I watched her from the bottom and was so proud when she finally made the leap. She screamed like mad too. We both wanted to go again though because you could do a 2nd jump for $35 which is a bargain but I didn't know what money I had on my caxton card. We watched the video on the big screen which was hilarious and I decided to buy it as she did me a special offer.
That night we were so exhausted from such a lot of adrenaline that we left the Woolshed straight after having dinner. I crashed out instantly in the room.

Gran "Am I crazy?"... DEFINITELY! But very courageous too. The video had me holding my breath, even though I already knew you'd survived. The jump from the platform looked fine to me, and no indecent boob exposure was visible. Would have loved to hear the conversation with the people on the viewing platform, and was amazed you actually chatted whilst in that situation! To do this and the sky dive, so close together, was either very brave or utterly mad!
