Lovewells vs The World
We are still doing science even though we are away: Today was physics day... So we went to Americas oldest theme park : Knotts Berry Farm. From Daniel: My favourite ride was Linus' blanket ride at Camp Snoopy. You got on and lay on your tummy, and it swung you round like you were flying. The trick is when you lose your tummy to yell out and it makes you get air and feel better...that's why everyone screams on roller coasters. At my other favourite, Big foot Rapids, we got a bit of a jolt as we started, but it got better...and when we reached the rapids we got absolutely soaked! There were water geysers that happened to go off just when we went past. There was even a tunnel and a small waterfall. It was seriously fun. The scariest ride I watched was called the wipeout...I am never doing that! From Gemma: Knott's Berry Farm was awesome! We went on all the rides in Camp Snoopy, and my favourite there was Linus' flying blanket where you lie on a "blanket" and you fly around. My favourite ride overall was called Jaguar! and was based in the Fiesta aztec zone. It was awesome! It was really long and it catapulted you from a standstill. In ghost town we went to a graveyard...and on one grave if you stood on it, you could feel a heart beat, it was a really freaky! And at the jail the outlaw In the jail knew our name. We have no idea how he knew us! We got to try Knotts berry boysenberry punch which I think is the best drink I have ever tasted. It's impossible to describe so I think you should just go try it for yourself! Another awesome ride was the pony express, a roller coaster where you sat on a horse. It was really short, but boy was it fast. In rail life the pony express was 2000 miles long, and each horse and rider galloped from one town to the next, passing urgent mail like a relay. It used about 700 horses. I would totally have loved that job! Gemma This is the physics we saw in action today: Gravity - Woodstock's letter drop Acceleration - Pony express. And the xcelerator Suspension - supreme scream Magnetism - calico mine train Inertia - Pigpen's mud buddies Thrust - Timberline twister Momentum - Big Foot Rapids potential energy - Jaguar! Centrifugal force - Charlie brown's kite swing, Linus' blanket ride Screamitism... Everywhere - we witnessed a lot of that! There were so many school groups at the park. We wish we did a science field trip to an amusement park, that would be so cool! G&D
