Today was our last full day in Venice. We had work to do. We have been traversing Spain, Portugal and Italy and at some point one needs to wash their laundry. We checked on line and identified a place we thought would work. With directions in hand we walked to our bus 31H which stops outside our hotel, just down the street. We thought we knew so we crossed the street but apparently we were on the wrong side of the street. Ok no problem we crossed the street. A lovely young Chinese couple who were waiting as well and had noticed us asked us if we were headed to Venice. We weren’t. Their bus came and went without them as they were talking with their backs turned and the bus sped by. He took it much better than her. She was cold no doubt. They headed back to the hotel to warm up as it was another 30 minutes until the next bus. Lesson learned. We were ready. Our bus in sight and damn it while he stopped he didn’t open the doors for us. I waved, I shouted, I gave him a not so nice finger. (No I didn’t but I wanted to). Not sure what we did wrong. Anyway we too decided to head back to the hotel as well. We met and laughed and then had a good conversation. They told us Singapore should be on our travel list. They headed out, then we did and luckily they had caught their bus. Trust me I did not blink and waved frantically and it did indeed stopped. We travelled down the street and pushed the button to stop the bus. It actually stopped. We exited the bus and promptly walked the wrong way. Around and around with our dirty laundry. Long story short we finally found the place and had a great talk with a friendly Italian fellow and then took our clean laundry back to the hotel. Not to be bested we headed out again to buy Bill shoes. We had looked everywhere with no luck. We had to transfer buses this time. We did it without incident. We had an okay lunch and Bill bought some shoes. We headed back and unbelievably even in the dark we found our stop. As we walked back from the stop we wandered what is in that enormous store across from our Hotel. Well it’s the biggest shoe store we’ve ever seen in our life. Crap. Oh well we already have shoes, who needs better prices and selection. We’re packed and almost ready to head out tomorrow to board our cruise. Just heard Kimbrely and family are doing okay having experienced a 7.0 earthquake. We’ll no doubt be glued to the cruise bar’s television screen waiting to hear news.
