Today we took the bus then the high speed train, then the metro into Milan. Coming up the stairs from the Metro the photo attached to the blog was our welcome to Milan. It was awe inspiring to say the least. We walked around the building but decided to not enter due to cost, the line and frankly we’ve seen a lot of gorgeous art and architectural feats beyond belief lately. Sounds tainted but it was our decision this time. We headed to the fashion triangle and walked through admiring the displays. We also walked through the very first mall. Basically a grouping of stores under an enormous structural canopy from the late 18 hundreds. Lunch was next. I was freezing and used my powers to force us into a restaurant to sit down with heat. Not fancy by any means. We ordered a lunch pasta dish for each of us and we were happy. The bathroom however was not a happy place. It was a porcelain basin maybe 3” high sides and maybe 2 1/2 feet across placed on the floor with a hole in the middle and water constantly swirling around and down the hole. I was horrified as I really had to go. Any of you that know me will understand this and situations in the woods like this will and never have ended well. I steeled myself, grabbed onto the wall to keep from falling and leaned in. Yep, not a good idea and now some idiot is trying to open the dam door. Just as I thought, I now had a bigger problem than having to pee. No details but all was eventually fixed up. We paid the bill and continued our journey. A couple of hours later and we stopped for coffee at a Starbucks. Not my favorite but maybe just maybe they have something resembling coffee. They did and it was wonderful and all it cost was 5.50 euros a cup. Damn that’s expensive. Bathroom stop. It was glorious and worth the cost of the coffee. We finished up and headed to the metro then the train and then the bus back to our hotel. A great day.
