Its not been all work recently...
After Maclean i worked right up until the 5th of April, due to hours being cut in the run up to Beef Week Lesley and myself had 4 days off. This meant one thing - BRISBANE!!!!! Road trip baby! We booked a hire car then ended up cancelling it as Katie & Aoife were coming and got us a Land Rover free from Katies work.
We drove and parked it at Lesleys friends outside Brisbane city centre and got a taxi in. We stayed in Base Central instead of Embassy this time as Central is the party hostel (apparently, its not as nice as Embassy thats for sure!). This is where Lesley used to live when she worked in Down Under so we spent the next 4 days catching up with our friends, drinking (a lot!!), shopping and getting tattoos, "Every breath is a blessing" :) We were supposed to go to Byron on the Monday but the weather was chronic once again so we stayed in Brisbane an extra night and booked the coach home for the Tuesday. We had so much fun we CRIED on the bus heading back to Casino. WE ARE THE WORST BACKPACKERS IN THE WORLD!!
Not long after that we became friends with one of the customers, Charlie who invited us out camping. I ended up getting bad news from home and didn't really fancy it so when Lesley left, i went to Byron Bay for the day. You can get a return bus for $30, it was nice to have some alone time. Although it would have been nicer if the sun was shining! Had cocktails at The Balcony - $17 and the best money i have ever spent.
The following weekend after our Saturday shift we went up to Charlies parents house out the back of Casino. Beautiful big house with loads of land - was nice to see how people live here. We drank way too much goon that night though eugh.
We found out we had another 3 days off coming up so our boss had told us about campervan companies you can hire from Ballina. Tahn had told us about Springbrook National Park and we really wanted to see it. I had a look in our East Coast Australia Lonely Planet book and searched online where we could go. We asked Charlie to come with us so it was a bit cheaper as once again the insurance meant the campervan went from being $240 to $420 for the 4 days. We have decided to leave after work tomorrow and stay in Byron Bay for the night, spend the day there on Tuesday then head North... Excited!!!!!
