1st January -
New years day!! We woke up and I Skyped my parents for a couple of hours. I hadn't spoken to them properly for a long time so it was really good to catch up! We were surprisingly not that hungover but we still made sure we had a greasy macdonalds, of course. We sat in Darling Harbour and sunbathed for the rest of the day.
When we went to bed in our dorm that evening, the fun all started. We hadn't got on very well at all with a Chinese girl in our dorm during our stay. She demanded to have the curtain open during the night but slept with an eye mask on!? Okay..! But anyway, this particular night we were talking as we were getting our bags ready to leave the next morning. Then there was a knock at the door from the hostel receptionist telling us that the lights needed to be off (so she'd obviously complained to reception about us). Good. We turned the lights off and she got all rude saying stop talking, I'm trying to sleep!! This turned into a massive argument with her turning racist saying 'I hate British' and then accused Hannah of being racist saying 'mangos and bananas' the other night? What!!? Hannah got so angry she had to call the hostel reception guy up to diffuse the situation.
2nd January - we checked out of our hostel in the morning; we had a few hours spare in the day before we had to head to the airport to fly to Melbourne. So I arranged to meet up with Carly before we went at Darling Harbour. It was a very short meet but amazing to see her!! Hopefully I may see her when we travel up the east coast, fingers crossed.
We went back to the hostel to grab our bags and head to the airport. I was sad to leave Sydney.. I think it's a great city full of character! Not only that, but it have become a base for the last 10 days - the longest we had ever stayed in one place! What I wasn't going to miss though was the girl in our hostel. Au revoir!!!!! I can't wait for the rest of our Australia journey!! :D
