We had to wake up really early and leave Wellington in order to make it to the ferry port for our early crossing across the Cook Strait to the South Island. Everyone was still pretty tired by the time we boarded the ferry so most people just tried to find either the kids play area or several chairs to lay across and get some shut eye. The ferry had a cinema on board so Liv and Fi went to watch Shrek 3, funnily enough Liv fell asleep as soon as the lights went off, luckily she'd already seen it in Byron Bay, OZ, so it wasn't the end of the world. Once we'd made it successfully across the Cook Strait, we collected our luggage off the conveyer belt and boarded our new bus. This bus was a lot swankier, it's air-con actually worked and it had a DVD player in it with several TV's throughout the bus!!
After a movie and a bit of sleep we finally rocked up in Nelson for a quick stopover in this lovely little town. Everyone booked into this really nice hotel/posh pub and then decided to go on a little stroll to check out this place. Fi was in desperate need of some ssshhhexy thermals cos she was quite often pretty chilly. So we went to several walking shops in the town, i found some long awaited tracky bums i'd bin looking everywhere for. Phil, Matt and Fi all went to an internet shop to check out their e-mails and what not. I had to run back to the hotel to get my memory card in order to get our photo's put onto disc, and once i'd put them into the shop Liv and I stopped off in a lovely coffee shop to chill out for a wee bit. On our way back we went to a super market to get some essentials for our dinner tonight and of course a crate of beer to wash it down with.
Later that evening we cooked ourselves some yummy dinner in their ill-equiped kitchen, Liv and Fi weren't really feeling like going out tonight, so i popped next door with Matt, Phil, Joel and Danny for a bottle of pre-lash vodka and a few beers. We were all pretty convinced that there must be something to do in this town so we headed down to the centre and found the deadest bar ever, however after about a half hour they called last orders and as they did this crazy man called Deano walked in. He invited us to come to his bar and have a few drinks, when we got there it was pretty dead inside, so he opened it up and turned on all the lights and music, pretty much it as like a VIP party, so we stayed there till about 1 o'clock in the morning and then he invited us all back to his for a smoke and to continue the party. He was so eccentric and funny, he kept truna rugby tackle everyone and put on a DVD which he thought was absolutely hilarious. We must of left his about 3 o'clock, and stumbled back to our pub like hostel for 40 winks before getting up and moving on to our next destination.
