Well Mission Beach rained a lot less than everywhere else! WHite water rafting was excellent, definitely one of my favourite things I;ve done. They put a video on in the coach on the way there and scared everyone but once in teh boat I felt perfectly safe. We we in a boat with a Norwegion family and our guide Julian. Well right near the start they made us get our for a swim and the water was surprisingly warm. Getting ahuled back in the boat was fun. Then we set off and I dropped my oar right near the beginning as it got wedged on a rock. Then me and Brett nearly fell out, I thought I was going but managed to heave myself back up but I dropped the oar again! Our boat didn't tip up but it nearly did then and another time the guide got thrown forward through hte raft and landed on Louise! The grade 4 rapids were the best by far, after the first couple of hrs the rest was too easy! One of the guides saw a massive snake which incited fear into us too! We got to get out at one point adn go down some rapids just in our lifejackets which was really good. the best and scariest bit of the day I thought I was on the wrong track but there is nothing you can do the water is so fast flowing and washes over your head so you can't see anything and are concentrating on not drowning! I tried to swim at the end back to the shore but was too far over and although I wasn't being swept along I wasn't making progress so got a rope thrown to me and got pulled in! Another activity we had during teh day was to jump off a 6m rock. That was also good but slightly hair raising as you had to jump forward quitwe a bit to miss the bits sticking out! My favourite rapid was one where we all had to go to the front of the boat so it didn't tip up. It was a really good day and I'd like to do it again sometime. Mission Beach was nice I could imagine it would be like paradise with the sun out, and it got hit m,y cyclone Larry last year and looks just like the type of place that could have another one any time!
