Today, another hot day of course. I met a guide before 9AM for a walking tour of Stone Town, Zanzibar. We walked for about 2.5 hours through the small streets of the town, visiting old buildings with intricate carved doors, through a museum, into the slave market which is now an Anglican church, to Africa house overlooking the ocean, and to the dhow (boat) harbour where the fisherman come and where the slave boats used to go out.
Time to rest for a bit before I go get some lunch.
I had lunch at the Stone Town cafe. Basically seasoned avocado on toast with spice tea and date cake with caramel sauce. I enjoyed it.
Later I went to mass at the catholic church. First time at a mass in Swahili. It was mostly children and good to hear them sing with drums for accompaniment.
Next I went to the waterfront. In the late afternoon, it is full of kids swimming and having fun. Great place for me to take pictures of kids jumping in the water with the sunset in the background.
Now it's time to sit down for a drink and a fish supper in the beach. Good times!
