I woke up to heavy rain on the island but was still excited to go and meet Ben at the airport in Phuket. I was picked up at 10:30 for my speedboat across to Phuket only to find it wasn't scheduled to leave for another 2hours!! It didn't actually leave Lanta until around 1:30-2pm! The rain didn't stop all day and I was relieved I'd brought my rain mac with me as everyone else was very wet! Finally at the hotel in Patong by late afternoon I had my first hot shower...

I arrived on Koh Lanta on the 8th December. After settling in I took a short trip, for a day and night to Phi Phi. Meeting with my friend Jamie from university we watched Muay Thai boxing, as well as what can only be described as stupid tourists taking on one another at the reward of a bucket after 3 rounds. Then it was onto the beach for drinks and fire rope skipping (a sensible past time when one is under the influence of a bucket or two!). Once back on Koh La...
