Feeling rather ropey we arrived at Bangkok train station with over an hour to spare. Once we boarded the train, I decided 2nd class was not very comfortable, particularly in comparison to how I had travelled from Chiang Mai to Bangkok a week earlier (1st class). Nevertheless it was an experience. Our seats were switched to beds and curtains put up around 8pm, but was relieved to be able to relax.
The journey to Koh Pha-ngan took a long time. Following the train we caught a bus to the ferry and then a 3 hour ferry to the island. Arriving at our hotel just after 1pm, a long journey, considering we'd left our hotel at 4pm the previous day.
Relaxing by the pool everyday, which overlooked the beach was great. On the day of the full moon party we were up early for a day trip to Koh Tao. Travelling by speedboat first to the surrounding national park and walking to a beautiful lookout over aquamarine waters and white sand. Then a few snorkel stops, before having lunch on the island.
Once back on Koh Pha-ngan it was time to get ready for the full moon party. Neon paint and accessories on, we had a few cocktails at the hotel before heading south to Haad Rin beach for full moon fun. It was MENTAL... I have never seen so many people on one beach in my life. After dancing on the beach full of people we decided to move to a rooftop bar overlooking the beach for some air, as it was too hot, sweaty and crowded on the beach. Back on the beach once the crowds had thinned we partied until around 5am. Arriving back at the hotel by 5:30 and showering to get the paint off... Natalie however, slept in her paint, covering her bed sheets.
The next few days on Koh Pha-ngan were spent relaxing and enjoying the sunshine before heading home. It was a great week to end my 6 months travelling and all a little surreal to be heading home and back to reality...
