Oh no Graham has woken up with a cold on the most important event day of the year ! There was still things to do this morning everything double checked numbers to be stuck on , I still went for my swim. Transition was closing at 9 .00 so we had to get there early even though Graham's race wasn't until 11.30 . Some very nervous looking people on the train this morning . We arrived in good time at the venue I thought Graham had got lost in transition area where he spent ages checking and double checking everything , and then we had to spend a couple of hours wandering around and watching the other races. At 11.00 the athletes are summoned into the village and then lead out by a Scottish piper playing his bagpipes , which is a bit bizarre as this is Canada not Scotland. They made their way into the holding pen and then on to the beach and with the sound of a horn they dive in to the lake. Forty two old boys swam , biked and ran their hardest and finished in front of the grandstand just like the Brownlees will do on Sunday. A smiling Graham emerged the other side of the finishers tent knowing he was first GB having gone past his GB competitors on the run and twelfth in the World!
We met up with Jane and Tony from Eynsham for a celebratory drink in the beer garden and then made our way back to the hotel . Graham decided to cycle although I wasn't sure he should after a couple of beers! but he beat me back.
Our last evening in Edmonton at the Sherlock Holmes Pub where the GB competitors celebrated the fact that had come and competed for GB and now they start planning their next trip to Chicago?
