Today I had another massage along with a facial, manicure, pedicure, facial, hair treatment and blowdry ... I paid about $30 for that and then tipped another $20..the girl was so happy she almost raped me! (later I found out $20 is huge here and could probably have fed her family for a week so that made me feel like the president of happyville)
I met my roomate Clare (who is Irish) after I returned from the spa, she had just come with about 12 other people from a previous tour that covered Thailand and Cambodia so we all went out for traditional vietnamese lunch before meeting the other 6 people joining the group. Everyone seems very full of life and fun to be around! I found the people from the previous group were a bit chattier but clearly they are a bit more settled after traveling the last 2 weeks together.
Our tour managers name is Hoover (obviously not her real name but she was dubbed it after she discovered her hidden talent of skulling a schooner in 3 seconds) I like her cause she's the female kiwi version of cam.
We all went to the markets for dinner, I ate traditional food again and chose a "make your own seafood spring rolls" platter, it was so fresh and tasty!
We all headed to a bar afterwards and got to know each other a bit better, but again had an earlyish night (about 12pm) due to everyone's jetlag.
I also learnt today not to carry my passport, credit cards etc after Hoover explained that the locals are great pick pocketers and also have a habit of slashing bags from your shoulder as they ride past on their motorbikes...so from now on I'm stashing everything I NEED in my bra and the rest stays in the motel.
Surprisingly I'm doing well without Facebook but my sim card isn't working on my phone and I'm truly missing some broken hill gossip!!
