I managed to get to sleep fairly quick with my music on to drowned out the snoring last night.
So much easier sleeping in a dorm with people you know. For starters, I choose friends that don't snore...
We met Craig for breakfast again at....you guessed it, Yellow Rocket. Too tired. This time, we went to a different branch of it. Didn't meet until practically lunch time though.
Then we took the tram to the Art Gallery. Yes, the Art Gallery. It's free and we thought we'd take in a bit of culture and maybe learn something. Or not. What a load of tosh. It's a complete load of crap this art stuff. A little canvas with literally 5 paint brush marks on it...I've seen 2 year olds do the same. Then another with loads and loads of colour on but no picture that you can really make out...well, apparently we could see the severe anxiety and depression etc in that one. Load of rubbish. We saw some good art work in a little shop in Queenstown which were proper paintings that were amazingly good. Oh well, it was free.
After being bored out of my mind, I needed a coffee so we took the Tram to Regent Street where we stopped for coffee and a muffin. Then we took a walk out to see a monument that was made with steel gifted to the local firefighters which is from the World Trade Centre destroyed by 9/11.
We're out of here tomorrow and needed to resupply, so took the free bus shuttle around town to New World supermarket. Got in and out as quick as we could, then went back to the hostel for a nap. Got a good 30 minutes in. Can't beat a power nap.
We met Craig for a drink in Base's Saints and Sinners bar (yes, again) and then went for meal at the Flying Burrito Brothers, which is a really nice Mexican restaurant. We walked past it yesterday and saw it was really busy so decided we should treat ourselves to it. The food was really good. We all had burritos and also shared this Mexican Bean dip with tortilla chips. Not too badly priced at $24 (£12) each either.
From there we walked across to the Court Theatre to see Scared Scriptless at 10pm. We bought tickets the other day for it. And it was absolutely hilarious. It's improvised comedy, so what they do is use the crowd for little ideas to act out a comical scene. For example, they asked a guy in the crowd to describe his day to them, then they acted it out so that it was the worst day in his life and then the best day in his life. There were 5 comedians, 2 women and 3 guys, and they just have to make things up on the fly. There was this other one where they asked the crowd to come up with a setting for a Soap Opera. So somebody in the crowd came up with a Magazine Publishers and they just made up this whole story! Really clever stuff and some great comedians.
A fantastic end to a fantastic time in Christchurch.
