Beach day today! We caught a ferry from Circular Quay to visit Manly Beach. It took 30 minutes and cost $13.50 (£8.50) each return...not cheap. It's clear blue skies today and warm, so we got good sunny views of Sydney as we went across
Manly has a nice beach with good surf. I went in and it was freezing! I soon warmed up though, battling through the waves and trying to swim with the waves. I'm looking forward to learning to surf next week. I prefer a beach with good waves, much more fun.
We shared an ice cream from this shop where they let you help yourself to sauces. Obviously I had to take full advantage of that - free sauce! Should have brought a container and put some in. I put too much on and it was falling all down the side of the ice cream. Then when we were crossing the road, all the chocolate sauce fell all down my hand. I licked it off but it doesn't taste so good when you've got sea salt all over your hand.
We spent a couple of hours in Manly, then took the ferry back to the city to catch a bus to Bondi. Took the 333 Bus from outside the ferry terminal. It took us about 20 minutes and cost another $4.50 (£3) each. Didn't actually realise that it was quite so far away to Bondi Beach.
The beach was absolutely packed out. The main road has lots of food places and it was really busy around there. We didn't have enough time to make our own lunch today so we had to eat out. We got a lovely sandwich and salad from this takeaway place, which cost $8.50 (£6) each. Pricey, but you get quite a lot. Really filled us up anyway.
We came up here to do a popular Coastal walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach. It took us just over two hours to complete and we only stopped for two drinks (from our water bottles, not pints of beer!) breaks! Absolutely lovely coast line and scenery. We passed a few other beaches and bays along the way, the best being Bronte Beach.
One of the nice things about the beaches here is there's always a nice big grass verge area that you can lay on if you don't want to go on the sand and they have decent picnic areas.
It was 6pm by the time we got to Coogee Beach. It's a nice beach down there too. Didn't seem as busy as Bondi but that might be because it was a bit later.
We didn't actually know what bus it was to get back to the city, but we stumbled across the M50. It's a good job, because I wasn't walking all the way back to Bondi! And the bonus was that it dropped us right next to our hostel!
Had a good day today in the sun...I'm a bit red! We were tempted to go out for some drinks but we've got an early start in the morning and we're already tired.
