We took a long walk to Central Market this morning. Unfortunately, it's a pretty poor Market. I think it's more famous because it's a historic building and supposedly was the first one in Kuala Lumpur. We've been to so many markets now and a lot of very good ones too, so markets from now on have to be good.
We didn't spend very long there, spent more time using the free WiFi to find out where to go next. We decided to walk the same route back and also walk around the China Town area. That didn't last long either. We've been to China! And these China Town areas are all very similar selling all the same stuff we've seen before really.
We carried on walking back to the main shopping malls near our guesthouse. The golden triangle area is pretty smart and looks quite futuristic with the big screens and monorail going past. It's really modern where the malls are and looks really smart.
We did a lot of walking today!
In the evening we went to find one of the streets that has lots of restaurants and bars called Chang Kat. Theres some really smart looking places to eat and drink. Also a few Irish pubs...isn't there always! We ate in a place called Pampas. We kind of treat ourselves a bit as it cost us £25, although that was still more than we expected as they add 5% tax plus 10% service charge. It was a really nice meal though. I had a pasta dish with garlic bread and Therese had chicken stuffed with spinach and asparagus with mash and a thick shallot gravy. Both were really nice. And we had a beer each. So was a little expensive, but was very nice.
After there we had a walk up and down the street checking out the different bars. And the prices! Too expensive at £4 a pint!! We decided to go for just one and make it last. A bar called Havana got our attention with the live band playing upstairs. It was rammed in there. Not full of western tourists, presumably locals and other tourists from around Asia. The band were playing indie type music as well. It was weird. All these malaysian guys we're really rocking out. And the Asian indie band were pretty good with there English sounding lead singer.
Then another guy came on singing some of his own stuff all in English.
Pretty good in there but we could only have the one drink as it was so expensive. It was a shame, but we've got to think of the budget still, and we'd already had a fairly expensive meal for backpackers!!! Good night though!
