Sunday the journey to Nha Trang was about another 4 hours North on the train. When we arrived we dumped our bags in our room then headed out for some dinner, really tasty Italian! We went back to our hostel and booked what adventures we wanted to do over the next couple of days then went to bed.
Monday we had breakfast then we were collected from our hostel at 10:00 to head to the mud baths. When we arrived we got changed then we were directed to our own private bath where they turnt on these huge bamboo taps that started gushing with mud! When the bath was full we got in, it was very warm and the mud was a funny consistency, not really thick, quite watery compared to what you would think but thick enough to make you kind of buoyant. We rubbed the mud over ourselves and on our faces and obviously took lots of photos, Laura dared Ben to put his head under which was hilarious, Ben looked like a mud monster and couldn't open his eyes so Laura tried to rush to get some water from the side to wash the mud away but ended up slipping all over the place!! We spent about 20 minutes in the mud before being directed to a quite high pressured shower then to the mineral pools to spend the rest of our time relaxing which is kind of difficulty being surrounded by Chinese people who like to shout at eachother and Russians who would rather pose for photos next to the pool rather than get in for a swim! We spent the rest of the day chilling and looking around the shops, for dinner we went to a restaurant called Lanterns to try some more Vietnamese food where we both had Vietnamese curry which was served in a clay pot and was delicious!
Tuesday we had a bit of a lie in before heading for breakfast, after, we waited on the bus stop for a ride to the cable car station which would take us across the Vinpearl Island. We waited on the bus stop with 2 Russian ladies who insisted on talking to us even though we had no idea what they were saying, we ended up catching a taxi with them which was rather interesting as we were speaking English, they were speaking Russian and the taxi driver was speaking Vietnamese however some how we managed to sign language and make it to the station with an agreed price and tickets for Vinpearl purchased! Vinpearl was an interesting place, a resort island with some rides, an aquarium, waterpark, arcade, golf course, restaurants and hotels, it had nothing on Alton Towers or Thorpe Park, Ben said it would be the worst place for a Zombie Apocalypse but was a nice day out! We got back to our hostel around 17:00 and were so hungry so quickly freshened up and went for dinner, to tonight's choice was Indian, our favourite!
Wednesday we had breakfast then we're collected at 8:00 for our boat trip Funky Monkey! We sailed to a small island which had an aquarium however as we went to one the day before we stayed on the boat and sunbathed on top deck until everyone returned. After, we sailed to a snorkelling location which was really nice, however the snorkels were from about 1980 and were just one circular glass piece that covered your eyes and nose but were not shaped for your nose so squashed it! We decided against the snorkelling and just had a swim instead but the sea was so cold... we were now in the south China Sea, nothing like the tropical Gulf of Thailand!! After, we sailed off to a floating fisherman village, huts on boays and stilts with netted sections where they kept their catch, there were some fish we had not seen before along with squid and octopus. One fisherman lifted up a squid for people to see and it squirted ink everywhere!! Our boat was anchored here and we had some lunch aboard, they laid out a table with a big selection of food and even let us taste Sea Urchant! After lunch the Funky Monkey team performed some music for us which turned into Kareoke where we were pulled up to sing Wonderwall as we were the only English aboard, it surprisingly wasn't that embarrassing as our boat was dominated by Chinese people and they go wild for Kareoke! After Kareoke a 'floating bar' was tossed into the sea offering free 'cocktail', we were the first 2 to swim out to it, think we needed a drink after all that singing! The cocktail was disgusting, rice wine with orange juice and they were very forceful with making sure it all got drank, one poor guy had it poured down his snorkel! Once the drink was gone we sailed off to a remote beach for a relax, where we both got very sunburnt! It's fair to say we were rather exhausted when we got back to the hostel, we freshened up then went for dinner, back to Lanterns for some more Vietnamese food, then headed straight to bed as tomorrow we would be up early to head to Da Lat.
