Monday, we hiked at 7:30 all the way down to Panboche (3995m), we arrived at lunch. The helicopter continued to fly over throughout our hike, we saw a landslide falling on the mountain opposite us and we walked through a really badly damaged village, every building was broken and we felt so bad just walking through, like we were just abandoning them, couldn't look them in the faces. Panboche was sunny, we sat outside and ate our lunch, it's Louise and Jens wedding so we wanted to Skype them but unfortunately all Internet and phone connection is broken. A helicopter arrived, we thought maybe with supplies for the village but it was delivering the body of a Sherpa who died at Base Camp back to his village, this village. We played cards and watched 'Inception' until tea, during tea the family who run the teahouse and our guide and Sherpas watched the news, this was when reality hit. Seeing all the devastation on the news, seeing that Dan Friedenburg the Google exec was at Base Camp and lost his life is really sad, but what about the Sherpa who's body that was delivered here early, who is he, no recognition for the many of Sherpas who died, they were just Sherpas, but actually without them no one would make it to everest. After we went to bed.
