Got up early to catch the bus to Byron Bay via Brisbane. Turned out to be the same bus that took us to the zoo the previous day.
3 hours to Brisbane, an hours wait in the coach terminal and then 3 hours to Byron getting us in around 4pm and unfortunately into the rain!
We got the shuttle to the hostel and checked in. On heading out to look around the hostel we met 2 Danish guys and ended up chatting to them for a few hours.
The four of us then went to bar next door to try out kangaroo burgers. Felt kind of wrong given we had been feeding and stroking kangaroos at the zoo the previous day but had to put this to the back of my mind.
Kangaroo meat is slightly weird in that almost has a sweetness to it.
After that we popped next door to watch cockatoo Paul do his thing. This consisted of him singing whilst playing the drums, guitar and didgeridoo - some of these at the same time!
His humour was a little odd and he sang all original songs and again these were a little odd so at the first chance we ducked out and went back to the hostel.
Here the guys very nicely shared some of their beers with us and we ended up staying up playing cards with them.
After a while we joined by some Germans, however one named Dave was a bit drunk and kept throwing insults so we said goodnight and headed to bed.
