Friday
We decided to wander up to the town after breakfast and have a look around the shops. It's a nice little town with a lot of surf shops.
We then went to the travel agents to sort out Zealand which is now a week away and then to a bead shop where we made our own necklaces.
Back at the host we finally figured out why there were no saucepans available when we tried cooking dinner - apparently you have to hire them from reception which is a tad weird.
Anyway pan hired we proceeded to cook ourselves a risotto which didn't turn out too badly and then had an early night.
Saturday
Today we headed to Nim Bin a small town about 2 hours from Byron Bay.
The town is known for holiday a new age festival and heavily promotes the use of marijuana.
We got there and perused the various marijuana and hippie style shops being offered "cookies" and things of the like every 5 steps. Having resisted this tho the only thing I'm leaving Nin Bim with is a a nice new ring! Also had the most amazing hot chocolate (with no funny things in)!
We had 2 hours to look around which was plenty of time and then got back on the bus - most people looking a bit "happier" than they were on the way there! However we were now down 4 people - who knows there they ended up - it was a rather strange place though!
After 20 minutes we had to stop the bus for someone who was tripping out after having only half a cookie. Poor guy was shaking and extremely pale! It just confirmed we had made the right decision in staying clear - lets just say the people baking the treats did not look like Mary Berry!
Back at the hostel we showered changed and headed to Cheeky monkeys for some dinner. $10 for a steak dinner was pretty good. We both agreed to only have a few drinks and then head to bed. However we eventually crawled into bed gone 1am after drinking numerous glasses of $3 champagne. It was a strange and a bit like home as we recognised 5 people in there! Three from our Frasers trip, one from the coach down to Byron and another from our hostel in Sydney at the begging of our Aussie adventure! It really is a small world after all.
