After a horrible nights sleep (it felt like a sauna in our top bunks - the fans on the floor didn't reach us!), we were both looking forward to checking out! We both woke up early, so got up and made breakfast while the place was quite quiet. Then we dragged our bags into the hallway to pack there where it was slightly cooler and less smelly. Before we left I took a photo of the room as evidence of how messy it was! I'm not very good at confrontation or complaining, so when the manager asked why we were leaving early and whether we were unhappy, I just said we had to get back to Perth! We will leave a bad review on tripadvisor though!!
Walking back to the station, we were relieved to be leaving that place. It's a shame we didn't get to see more of Fremantle, but we were told the place doesn't really get going until the weekends, and even if we'd stayed we would be checking out on Saturday morning. And we could always come on a day trip from Perth while we're there.
The hostel we were heading for was just outside Northbridge (where we first stayed in Perth), near the suburb of Leederville. We got off the train in Leederville and asked a local for directions to our hostel. On the way, we walked up the main street of Leederville, packed with cafes and restaurants (none of which we can afford L) and little boutique shops. Seems like a nice little place!
We arrived at the hostel and were able to check-in straight away for a change as their check-in time is 11am. The hostel was a little run-down but a million times better than where we've come from! The icing on the cake was our double room with…a TV! We can't remember the last time we had a TV in our room! We had showers and then watched The Ellen Show before having lunch, and then went for a wander around Leederville.
We walked back to the main street and chose one of the cafes to splash out on a coffee! The café we went in had the most amazing range of cakes and desserts we've ever seen (the future for Bakery Lane?). We were going to get a slice of one to share, until we saw it was $7.50 a slice! They must be raking it in! They were great to look at though, and I took a few photos!
We headed back to the hostel to relax in our lovely room for the rest of the night, reading and watching TV!
