After a comfortable night in our cabin (we even had a double bed!), we were woken up at 6:30 for breakfast, which was an amazing buffet of cereal, fresh fruit and toast with all sort of jams and spreads! We got a bit excited and ate too much though! After breakfast we all collected our stinger suits and swimming gear, and were taken in groups of 10 over to the beach at Tongue Bay, in the small tender motorboat. …And we woke up in Airlie Beach and left the bus (finally!) at 9am. Our boat wasn't due to leave until 3pm, so we had a few hours to kill in town. Kel made a phone call home to Michael and then we headed to ABC Travel to check-in for the trip. Airlie Beach is in a beautiful bay, but there are huge signs up all along the beach warning swimmers about the dangers of the jellyfish that are active along the Coast at this time of year including the lethal box jellyf...

Today we had a bit of a long wait in the hostel for our bus. We had to check out at 10am, but our greyhound to Airlie Beach didn't leave until 3:30pm. We filed our time by writing the diary and playing on the internet! Lena waited with us until her bus at 12:30, then we were on our own for the last 3 hours! The bus was a bit late, but it was quite empty and very comfortable for the 2 hour journey to Hervey Bay, where we had to wait for a connecting bus to Airlie...

This morning we had a much-needed lie-in after a couple of early starts! Then we walked into the town of Rainbow Beach for a look around the shops and some brunch - Kel treated us to pancakes, scrambled eggs and muesli - yum! We also went down to the beach to have a quick paddle and we picked up some food supplies before heading back to the hostel. After a slightly better nights sleep, thanks to the foam mats the Irish girls left behind, we were woken up at 6:30 again(!) and had to pack up all the tents ready for Wayne to load up his roof rack while we enjoyed our last Fraser Island activity - a swim in Lake Wabby! Wayne dropped us off and told us which way to walk to the lake and what time to be back. We were all a bit dubious as it was over 2km walking through the forest to get to the lake, a lot of it...
