We woke up in time to take advantage of the fantastic free breakfast at the Green Tortoise (bagels, coffee and juice) before catching up with Chris and Dawn on Skype - the first time we've managed to use it in five weeks of travelling! At around lunchtime, we left the hostel and headed for Fisherman's Wharf and a free museum we'd read about called the Musee Mecanique.

The place was filled with old penny arcade games dating back to the 50s and they'd all been kept in perfect working order. We changed $5 into quarters and had some fun playing Pac Man and pinball and testing our strength! We wandered a bit more around the Wharf over lunchtime, surrounded by people eating clam chowder out of sour dough bread bowls, which looked really good. Never did get round to trying one though.

We then went to the local waxwork museum - a really mixed collection of models, some really good and some that we wouldn't have recognised without the signs. Beyonce was particularly shocking, she should sue. By this point we were starving, so we found a cheap Italian place to eat. The food was pretty good and we saved money by only drinking the free water that they give you here when you sit down. Everyone else just leaves these on the table untouched, whereas ours were topped up!

Had a quiet night in the hostel and spent most of it booking hostels and Greyhound buses for the rest of our stay in America. Everywhere seems to be filling up fast, but we managed to sort out hostels in Santa Cruz, Monterey, LA and San Diego. Time to say good bye to San Francisco, looking forward to the beaches of Santa Cruz tomorrow!
