Jeffery left early for work this morning and let us stay in his apartment on our own until we were ready to go, because we didn't look like we were going to 'rob him blind'! We eventually headed back into the city and checked in at the Green Tortoise hostel. It was much bigger than Pacific Tradewinds, the other hostel we'd stayed in, and we liked it straight away - lots of computers with free internet, helpful staff, a large dining room, lots of showers and toilets, and a double bed! We spent the day doing our washing, using the computers to catch up with the blog and napping!
At 7pm we headed to the dining room for our free dinner - salad, vegetarian curry and rice - delicious, all the more so delicious as it was free! There was a pub crawl around some of the local bars at 8:30 so we waited in the lobby to join it. While we were waiting we bumped into Sarah from our Green Tortoise tour, she'd just met her friend at the hostel after getting back from the GT trip to Yosemite - something we'd have liked to have done, but we thought it was a bit too expensive as we were trying to save money.
We had a good time on the pub crawl, the drinks were cheap ($2.50 + $1 tip per drink!) and we met a Scottish girl who told us she wasn't impressed by Santa Cruz - our next destination! We hoped she'd be wrong! After 3 bars, we headed back to the hostel - a good night in San Francisco and a room all to ourselves to sleep in as noone else had checked into our room.
