Next stop was the Glaciers. We woke up early to go and see the sun rising over Fox Glacier and it looked amazing! We went for a walk around a lake and saw the reflection of Mount Cook and Mount Tasmin in the water. The snow capped mountains looked stunning with the sun just hitting the top of them. We stoped to have breakfast looking out over the mountains. Only when we got to the gift shop did we realise that that is where the mints get there name from - Fox Glacier Mints!! We are not as clever as we thought.
We travelled down to Queenstown which is a really cool town with a great feel about it. Had lots of pubs and loads to do - it even has the worlds first bungy there although we were not brave enough to do it, especially as it was jumping down right next to some rocks! We went out for the night and saw another great NZ band called Mojo. The funniest part of the night though had to be Ben getting touched up by a gay bloke. He was all over him like a rash so we left him to it :-) Waking up in the morning to get out of the campsite by 10am was a BIG struggle!!! Made even worse by the time we went to start the engine and the van had broken down. That was the start of the problems......
Firstly we had to wait for 2 days for some new glow pugs to be delivered.
All was good
Then we took it in for its MOT and it failed on quite a few things but because we had already booked a cruise for the next day we had to book it in for the work to be done and then go back to it the following day.
On the way to the cruise in the middle of nowhere with no phone signal and no one with jump leads it decided to break down AGAIN! Very long story but we managed to get to a place where a bloke came to jump start the car.
All was good
Then there was a massive leak underneath it and then the gears wouldnt work but after going back to the garage and 2 days in there (and a lot of money spent!) its all working fine now :-)
So all in all we spent a week in Queenstown - i could definitely think of worse place to be stuck
We will tell you all about the cruise in Milford Sounds in the next blog
