Josh sent us a text last night at 10 pm telling us that it was 'Tropical Friday' today so we should wear tropical print shirts at work- a bit too late notice to be able to get anything in time! Chats sent me a text to congratulate me on my mystery shopper result- a proper one this time and not just an in store one! According to Alice (who was at work, I had the day off) the result was 41/42- the one mark being lost was that their overall verdict was that the meal was too expensive- i.e. nothing to do with the service!

Sammi had leant me and Dane his car for the day so that we could go to Port Douglas- I wanted to check out a different Hogs Breath to compare. Any tips we get over $5, we get to keep ourselves, and any under we put in a tip jar which gets shared out equally (or proportionally to the hours we do) after every month or so. Today Chats counted out the tip jar, and gave me my share in an envelope. I didn't put it in my front apron pocket as I didn't want to keep pulling that out instead of my notepad and pen. After my lunchtime shift, I met Alice and other hostel people at the lagoon for a few hours- I can't believe it was so hot at 4.30 pm when it is supposed to be winter! Dane had text me that the circus is on and made me walk up the road to see- it wasn't set up yet but I got to see some of the animals, like camels and donkeys and sheep.
