After 2 attempts, Jeff caught the rat with the rat trap (Yay). However the rain did not stop overnight and the tent continued to leak along a seam or 2, so the boys spend the night in bed with me and Jeff spent the night dodging drips on the stretcher. This morning we learnt that every year Tully and Babinda compete for the 'Golden Gumboot' award which is given to the town in Australia with the highest annual rainfall - Babinda often wins!!
We spent the day in Cairns (bought some seam sealant) and the boys went to the cinema to see IceAge4 while I browsed the shops. The skies cleared while we were in Cairns but as we drove back to Babinda we could see the big grey clouds over our camper!! It didnt stop raining until this evening.
Despite the rain, Babinda is actually a cute little town and the nearby rain-forests are gorgeous. Just on dark Kaidan and I drove to 'The Boulders', just 7km from Babinda. We were very fortunate to see a cassowary cross the river. The Boulders (photo) are magnificent in a beautiful wet tropics rainforest.
