Kyles worldwide travels
Hello all,
Well i can't say a great deal about Asuncion, Paraguay, except that there isn't anything to see. The weather is very very hot and the people are very very poor. We did a city tour to see the sights (or to see if there were any!!) and the guide was full of information about the history of Paraguay...basically they are in competition with Argentina to see who has the most corrupt govt and also in competition with Bolivia to see who is the poorest country....one interesting thing i learnt was that Paraguay have declared war on a number of countries, a number of times and to this date have not won any of them...you think they would have learnt!!!!
We did go out on the town whilst we were in Asuncion. The first night i went out with Chris to a bar for a few quite drinks...well you all know me and being quite - well it just doesn't happen (normally!!). We had a few jugs of Sangria and thought Karaoke was a great idea...Chris wanted to sing `I've got you babe' by Sunny and Cher....well we started off ok, with Chris singing the opening line and then it was my turn....we kind of forgot i had lost my voice..so absolutely nothing came out, which is so unlike met...poor Chris had to sing the entire song by himself and i couldn't not stop laughing at the poor boy...if that wasn't bad enough for him, when he had finished i was the only person to clap for him....he is a good sport though!!!
The next night out we all went and had a bit of a Samba...which went into wee hours of the morning.
So needless to say the night life is the only thing going for Paraguay.
The next day we headed back to Brazil (another stamp for my passport) into Bonito, which is a lovely little town just over the boarder. We spend the first day in the natural pools, which basically is a river of crystal water that you can jump into at one point and you end up down river about 50 metres with absolutely no control what so ever, the current just takes you and you have to try and swim to the edge and get out before you end up god knows where...it was heaps cool. I managed to get myself out of the current and onto dry land...picture this...I'm dragging my white body out of the water trying very hard to look cool in front of the locals (who are ultra cool), holding in my tummy and strutting my stuff back up stream to do it all over again...when again in true kyles form i kicked my toe on a rock and went down like a bag of crap....i then had to get back up, brush myself off and limp all the way back up river to where the rest of the group where...they all had a good laugh at me just like you guys would have if you were there!!!
The following day we had the best day. We had to get into wet suits, which wasn't as embarrassing as i thought, and snorkel gear to head back into another running river with crystal blue waters. This time the river had great big fish in it. I had the most amazing time just floating around with the fish. Before we got into the water we had to walk for about 45mins through the jungle where we saw monkeys, birds and some kind of little furry animal (not sure what they were but i stayed well clear of them!). Oh and by the way girls the tour guides were very very cute.
Well kiddies i will finish here and start a new journal entry for my next place.
Take care
Kyles xx
