We booked an island boat day trip for koh phi phi and the surrounding islands. Our first stop was bamboo island.. It was quite literally an island of white sand, reaching out about 30m from the nearest trees in the centre. Something you see in the movies.
Next we went to the lagoon, a beautiful little area where for a few hours of the day when the sea level rises you can get a boat in and your surrounded by cliffs on all sides, makes you feel very small.
After stopping to snorkel at a coral area we headed to Maya bay which is now by far my favourite beach of the trip, despite it being super touristy and packed when we arrived.. The sand was like white flour and the water crystal clear. It really was as good as it looked in the film 'the beach'. Could've spent a week there if they had a 7/11 for cheese and ham toasties and a street food outlet for some pad Thai!
