Kya Travels
Today we all had another mega sleep in. Gotta get them when we can! When we eventually felt alive enough, we walked down the street to go to the restaurant of the chef we met the night before, Bran. We sat down, got a drink, and Bran came out to say hi. He ran us through the specials, and the vego options, and gave us some recommendations. We got our food, and as it turns out, the recommendations were pretty spot on. Then it was about time to head up to meet the great-aunt, Elizabeth. Lyle went off to do his own thing, and we headed up to find her house. We found the place, and were welcomed in by Elizabeth and her husband Donald. We sat in the lounge and went through a whole heap of old photos of Darren's dad, grandparents, and extended family, and got a bit of a family tree lesson. Elizabeth turned out to be Patrick's (grandfather's) sister, so Darren's great-aunt. A couple of cousins-once-removed came around as well, Mary Margaret and Katherine, and we all had some tea and scones while we listened to everyone's stories about the family. After the cousins left, we kept chatting to Elizabeth and Donald, and they ordered some fish and chips. They had a cute little jack Russell too, that was a bit of a crazy thing! He kept going to a certain light in the ceiling, and barking his head off at it trying to get at the light! Maybe it's a haunted light!! Lyle came round after a while too, to have dinner with us. I hadn't told them I was vegetarian, so they served me up some fish! I just had chips, and some bread and butter. They weren't bad, but I still think Australia does the best fish and chips! After a bit longer, Katherine came back over, and all of us, except Donald went for a walk down to the marine hotel. Donald is a lifetime pioneer, which is a decision you make at certain points of life in the Catholic faith, which means he has never had as much as a sip of alcohol in his life! And people say all Irishmen are drunks!! When we got to the pub, we met another cousin-once-removed, Sonia, a second cousin, Meghan, who we'd been talking to, and a second-cousin-once-removed, Lauren, who was only twelve! And you can definitely see where Darren gets his height from now!!! They're all tiny little things! We all had lots of drinks, great conversation, and lots of nice photos. Buying rounds was crazy, trying to remember what everyone was drinking! When the barman, Chris, came over to tell us it was last drinks, we ordered another round, then some of them proceeded to tell him how he could improve the hotel! The main point being, "you don't have pure orange!". Chris then brought us out a whole carton of pure orange with the next round! The other barman mustn't have looked very hard for it!! After that round, we went across the road to get some nice photos, then said goodbye to everyone, and headed back to the hostel. Back at the hostel, we had one more (very) quiet drink in the common room, then went to bed.
