Kya Travels
Today we had a glorious sleep in! Nothing to do, and nowhere to be. It was amazing! We got up at almost midday, and the boys went to sort out the payment for the room, and do some washing while I Skyped my sister (although by the time we'd figured out how to Skype each other they were back!). It was a very lazy morning! Haven't had one of them in ages! When we eventually got ready, we went for a walk up the street and got some lunch in a little cafe called sugar bean, which was delicious, but a little pricey for what it was. We just had toasted sandwiches. We kept walking up the street, and stopped in at a few craft shops to have a look around. We slowly made our way up to the other side of town, where we found the Ramoane Parish, which Darren had heard he may have family buried. We walked around the church looking at the tombstones, and chatting to a lady there. While we were talking to her, Darren turned around and saw McCausland in big letters on a grave. We went up to have a look, and we were very surprised, and almost 100% sure it was family! Four people were buried there. It had on it something like, our father, John, our mother, Elizabeth, our sister, Florence and our brother, Patrick (interred Melbourne, Australia). Darren knew that his grandfathers name was Patrick, and he lived in Melbourne, so we assumed that the rest of them were his great-grandparents and a great-aunt! That was a pretty amazing find! The grave was very well kept too, which gave us hope that there might be some family here somewhere! When we were done there we made our way back down the street, where Darren ducked into the other church of Ireland, to see if there was anyone there who might know anything more about it. There was no one inside, so we just went to the supermarket to pick up a few things and headed back to the hostel for, guess what? Another nap!! When we got up, we had a few drinks in the common room while we waited to hear back from Meghan, who is a distant cousin of Darren's. We didn't hear back for a while, so we decided to head out for dinner. We went to a place called The Diamond Bar, and ordered some food. We got chatting to the locals there, and one of them was telling us the tale of some Irish prisoners who were sent to Australia and made a very famous escape. Our food came, and it was absolutely delicious!! I had a green curry, it was the best!! After dinner, we still hadn't heard from Meghan, so we went for another walk down the beach, to walk off all that food we just ate. Eventually we got an apology from her that she'd been busy and we'd catch her the next day. We went back to the hostel and went to bed.
