Kya Travels
We got up today, packed our bags and checked out of the hostel. We went for a walk up the street to an Internet cafe, cos we had to print out our booking form for our hire car. The cafe was called Presco's, and we thought we may as well get some breakfast while we were there. It was pretty good, same old fry up as most other places, and Darren got a croissant with bacon and brie. After breakfast, we walked up to the post office so I could post Jace's birthday present. I forgot to put in a letter though... Oops!! I'll have to Facebook him or something! Next we walked over to Waverley Bridge, across from the station, where we jumped on the airlink bus, to head out to the airport to pick up our car. We got there, filled in our paperwork, and headed out to find the car. It was a little fiat, and it said panda on the boot! So we have our cute little panda for the next five days!! We got in, Lyle was driving, and I navigated him to Balloch, which is the town at the base of Loch Lomond. We thought we'd stop there and get our bearings, before finding a place to stay for the night. We found a fish and chip shop in town, where Lyle and I got some ****** burgers, Darren got a piece of fish bigger than his head, and we got a waitress who really didn't like her job! We flicked through our brochures for a while, and got an idea of where we thought we might like to stay that night. After we finished lunch, we headed up the street to the tourist information centre, to see if they had any suggestions. The lady there straight away started giving us recommendations, saying its cheaper on the east coast of the loch than the west, so we started looking into places there. She also gave us quite a bit of information on things to do in the area too. So we started ringing around to see who had vacancies... It was like Glasgow all over again! Except this time it wasn't Robbie Williams, it was the school holidays!! Just can't win! So after hanging around the tourist centre for probably an hour or more, and calling a bunch of places, we decided maybe we'd just stay in Balloch. The lady there found a B&B up the road with vacancies, and even bartered him down a bit, so we could get separate rooms, and we booked in there. So we left the tourist centre eventually and headed up to Norwood Guesthouse, which seemed quite nice. The owner, Robert showed us up to our rooms, where we had all the little luxuries! TV, real towels, our own bathrooms, proper beds! It was amazing! So I decided I would just chill out in here, watch some telly and catch up on my blogging while Darren went out to the pub with Lyle. He came back after a while to see if I wanted to get some food. I wasn't super hungry so I just said whenever is fine. So he went back out. I had a snooze, kept watching tv and internetting, and eventually I got a call from Darren at about 11pm, that he was getting pizza from across the road. So I went out to meet him, and wait for the pizza with him. Lyle had stayed at the pub. We got our pizza and went back up to our room to eat and chill out and then went to sleep
