Kya Travels
We woke up this morning, but stayed in bed for a while on the wifi, feeling lazy. Through the morning we had three or four different people come into our room doing something with one of the beds, which was a little bit creepy... This place is weird. I just hope they were all workers! So we stayed in bed for a while trying to get our motivation up and go do something. After facebooking Joe and Tim to see what their plans were, we decided we'd go find some lunch. We grabbed our passports out of our main bags and put them in my handbag, because we just weren't comfortable leaving them in the hostel!! So we went downstairs, and walked up to the oktagon and went to a place called Oktagon Bisztró for lunch. It was an all-you-can-eat place, but the prices were cheaper than yesterdays lunch in the city (apparently thats the expensive tourist area!) so we got a table and a drink then took it in turns to grab a plate of food. We started with a plate of veggie stuff, then some mains then some desserts! I think we got our money's worth! They had a lot of pickled vegetables, and different types of chillies too, which was a cool thing and a bit different for a buffet style meal! Then we tried a few different desserts, of which none were particularly good, then sat back and decided we'd eaten waaaaaaay too much! We paid and headed back to the hostel where we chilled on the computer for a while before discovering that all-you-can-eat quickly turns into all-you-can-sleep! We had a nap then continued to be lazy and hang around the hostel. When we eventually got up, we organized to meet up with Joe for a few drinks, and then hung out a bit longer using the computer and being lazy again. When it was time to meet up, we got ready headed off to a place called El Ropido where we met up with him and a bunch of people from his hostel. We got a beer there and had a chat with the group. We got some very high recommendations for the caving tour that operates underneath Budapest, which we had been looking at, too. When we finished our beers, we headed off to the next pub. The group from the hostel were on a pub crawl, but let us tag along with them. (No free drinks though!) When we got to the next place, we sat down then were told they were closing, so we kept on going to find another place. On the walk I was chatting to an older man who was in the group, who was from Melbourne and had a holiday house in Collendina! So random! He seemed nice enough, but a bit of a weirdo! We got to the next place, and went in for a drink. We got a beer then found a table big enough for us all (which was a bit of a mission in this packed place!) and had a chat. Darren, Joe and I were chatting to a guy from Sydney and a guy who was possibly Italian, with the craziest monobrow ever! As seems to happen when we meet Aussies lately, the conversation turned to politics, and our new Prime Minister. When we finished our drinks at that place we headed off again to the next place. On the walk the weird old guy found his way to my side again for a chat, and I got to hear all about the Chinese girl he'd met on the Internet that he went to visit, who apparently got angry at him for not marrying her... Or something... When we were out the front of the next place, I was chatting to an Irish guy who was telling me some weird stories about things this old guy has done and said at the hostel. He seems like a bit of a creep! We got to the next place, which was one of Budapest's famous ruin bars. These are apparently buildings that were abandoned after World War II, that had been made into pubs, clubs and bars, with all different rooms and sections. It was kind of club-ish, and the drinks were expensive (for Hungary, anyway!) so Darren and I didn't get a drink here! We hung out with the guys on the dance floor section and did a bit of stupid dancing and had a chat with the crew there for a while, then after a bit we decided to head off, so we said goodbye to everyone and made our way out of the bar. We walked back to the hostel, stopping for a felafel and a kebab, then went up to the room and used the wifi for a bit before going to sleep.
