Kya Travels
We woke up this morning, packed up our stuff and checked out. We walked down to the bus station that we had been dropped off at the other day, but I wasn't definite the bus stopped there on the way out as well... So to be safe, and because we had plenty of time, we walked the 10-15 minutes around the town to the main bus station. I sat with the bags while Darren went to get some food from the service station next door, then we got on the bus. We watched a movie together, New Years Eve, then arrived in Prague again, three hours later. We went for a walk up the street looking for a sleeping bag, as we were camping that night and didn't have anything to keep us warm! They were pretty pricey in the brand new shops, so we were looking for an op shop or something that might have something. We came across an ex-army shop, where they had one for around $25, so we got that after wandering around for a while looking for an ATM! After that, we wandered back over to the bus station and stopped in the same pizza place we had gone to the other day. We got a pizza and a beer each, which were delicious, then headed to the station and got the metro to the other bus station, Florenc. When we arrived, we weren't exactly sure where the bus was going from, as I didn't see it written on the ticket anywhere, so we went to the tourist information centre there and asked the guy. He told us we had to get back on the metro and go to the main train station, which he said was where they left from, and he printed our tickets for us. We jumped back on the metro and at the train station we wandered around trying to find where it left from! We found a bus stop and asked one of the drivers there, who told us we had to go back to Florenc! I was getting a bit stressed now, as it was getting close to the bus time, so after looking for a tourist info centre, and not finding one, we went back down to get the metro back to Florenc. This is when Darren looked at the tickets, and saw that the departure place actually WAS written on it, and I obviously hadn't read the ticket properly! Oops! Luckily we made it back to the station in time, and with about 5 minutes to spare, jumped on the bus to take us to Munich! We snoozed, chilled and listened to music for the five hour trip, and had a stopover at one stage for some food before arriving in Munich! We got some directions to the underground from the friend of a Russian family who were on our bus, then walked up the street towards it. When we thought we should have come across it already, we asked another guy who was walking past, and he walked with us all the way there, and helped us figure out which train we needed to catch, and even got security to help us out with which train ticket we needed to buy! What a champ! So we got a couple of metros to the campsite, then walked up the road to actually find the place. My directions had said "follow the river to the right", which we were doing, but it seemed oddly dark and quiet, so eventually we made our way back onto the road, and followed some drunk guys, and the sounds of partying coming from up the road, and eventually made it to the campsite. We checked in, and put our stuff into our tent, then went for a walk down to the bar area to see if we could see Amy and Jade (my friends from work) who were here somewhere. There was no sign of them, but the place was going off! Many steins were being drank, and pretty much everyone was Aussie! What Oktoberfest? This is Aussiefest! We weren't up for a drink that night, so when we couldn't see the girls anywhere, we headed back to the tent, and went to sleep, where we spent the whole night freezing our butts off! It was ridiculously cold! How quickly summer has disappeared!
