Finally got some blue skies! had a stressful morning + late afternoon trying to book accommodation in Amsterdam, everything was fully booked or really expensive.
During the day we went to the Fries museum as we had got a combo deal with the chocolate museum. After we had learnt the history of the potato and fries we sampled some fries and bitterballens.
next we went for a boat ride down the canals. we learnt some facts about Brugges while being crammed into the wee boat.
we went for a walk around the town and bought a traditional hot chocolate made from pure chocolate ( not expensive this time) also bought the best tasting waffle ever with chocolate and cream- we did feel sick afterwards though.
We visited the crowne plaza as we had heard you could go and look in the basement, were there is the remains of an old church which was discovered when they started building the hotel....they had to build over the church not destroy it.
we went to the Holy Blood Chapel where they have the holy blood its alittle a cylinder which was taken on a crusade to Jerusalem in the 12th century and the catholics believe that its filled with Jesus' Blood.
we went had cheap lasagne for tea. we wanted to go to the bar which is famous for having 250 types of beer but it was shut, so we found another pub which had a good variety. Andrew had a cherry beer and Krystle had a coconut beer- which was interesting.
we finished the night by having a drink back at the hostel and there was lady that was there from late afternoon every day always sitting in the same corner
