Headed off to Lake Taupo today which should have been a relatively short journey but we went via Waitomo and stopped there for about 3 hours, so it added a fair few hours onto our journey which sucked a bit.

However in Waitomo we had the chance to go into some glow worm caves which was really cool. I decided to do the walk through version with another Scot and an American. It was really cool because we walked through these caves that were all previously carved out my the sea. And a lot of the formations look like things, we saw a couple of elephants, an angel, Stevie Wonders dredlocks among many other things. We stopped in the Cathedral Cave which is 14m high! Here we sang happy birthday to the glow worms and it sounded amazing, never knew we could all sing so well lol! We saw some glow worms over some water and when they shone the lights on them in a certain way u could see their "fishing line" where they catch their food on these sticky strings! We then got on a boat which took us around very slowly so we could see all the glow worms, it was amazing and looked like something out of a fairy tail! The woman who had taken us around also had the most wonderful voice for it, she sounded like she should be reading bedtime stories to kids all the time! It just added to the experience and made it more magical!

We also got to see some German Angora rabbits being sheered in New Zealands only rabbit sheering show!! Has to be one of the most bizarre things i hav every seen! They stretch the rabbit out by putting it paws in these noose type things and then turn them over to sheer them! We did get to hav a cuddle before and after they were sheered. Our bus driver had told us they slit the rabbits throat after sheering them and it was surprising how many people believed him!

Stayed at the Urban Retreat hostel which was really nice and you'll never guess who i met there.....Sarah and Hannah from primary school!! It was so strange, i havnt seen them in over 10 years and i met them in New Zealand! It would hav been so easy to hav passed each other by as well and not seen each other!
