Another early and hungover start, we were taken for a walk around the large park to observe and get to know the elephants. We watched them interact with each other, the babies playing, and the mahoots (elephant carers) looking after them. We were told all of tier names and discussed their personalities. Up early again for our jobs and this morning we had to unload all of the elephants food off the truck, load it onto the shelves, pack some into baskets, transfer them to a water trough, wash them, and pack them into clean baskets. Up at 6.30, breakfast at 7am, and work began at 8am with the fantastic task of......(drumroll please)......shovelling s***! We grabbed shovels and headed to the elephants sleeping areas. We scooped out the poo and loaded it into the truck. As rank as this job was, we all had a great laugh together. This didn't mean we weren't glad this job was over though.... Up bright and early, we checked out and grabbed a tuk tuk to the elephant nature park HQ. However, our 'driver' apparently couldn't drop us at the centre, so we had to trek with our heavy backpacks, completely unaware of our location.
