Took a greyhound from Edmonton to Vancouver, 17 hours on a bus!!! Was quite nervous about going on it, after some iffy experiences we had in America, but we just kept watching to make sure our bags didn't go walkies. At around 4am, I saw my life flash before my eyes as the bus fired on the breaks and went side to side making me think it was going to tip!! Bags flying everywhere and a little kid sliding down the bus, "sorry" shouts the driver. Turns out there were moose on the road and he was breaking to save them. So three more moose safe in the wild :)
Was easy enough to find our hostel, the lovely St Clair. Well it was a dump. The door did not feel secure to the room, like there was space underneath it. Two toilets and two showers for the whole floor. The 'kitchen' consisted of a table in the hallway, with a microwave and a kettle. You had to use the water from the sink in your room to cook and clean. O well, at least we know where NOT to stay on our next visit to Vancouver.
So we just spent the day walking around, aimlessly as we didn't really know where we were going. Walked down by Canada place, stopping on the way at Bella Gelateria- one of the best ice-cream places in the world and yea, it was really good!! They had 5 different types of chocolate ice-cream, so Kenny was in heaven. It really helped that Kenny found $20 dollars on the street, as we didn't get much change.
We walked down along the boardwalk, read about the history of B.C and watched the seaplanes.
Decided that we like Vancouver already, as we walk through the street and get given free coke and granola bars and they play hockey on a makeshift pitch on Granville street :)
