Mostly just flying today. After my first lie in for over a week, I watch a bit of Aboriginal dancing going on in Darwin town centre.
Getting to the airport is more stressful than it should be as the 20 minute shuttle bus goes to every other hotel, hostel, restaurant, and backstreet in the town before taking 45 minutes to get to the airport. Fortunately Darwin airport is a very small airport, and the same bloke who checks my bags is later opening the door to the plane.
After arriving in Melbourne I am greeted by Geeta and Foti and have a brief walk along the docklands to get better acquainted with Melbourne. You can always rely on a casino to provide some outrageous stunts and its no different here. A line of torches along the river bank burst into huge flames on the hour every hour. We stand back a little after a local says it'll "burn your eyebrows". Sure enough, the flames are massive and add some welcome heat to the cold night.
