After the worst nights sleep ever (the hostel was a little roudy last night) we decided to be brave and venture out on our own for the first time today.? We hailed a taxi from plaza san blas to take us to the 'teleferiqo' - a sky cable car thingy which goes up the side of a volcano and over a little area of rainforest.

I went on my own as the height of it freaked helen out and she stayed put on the ground - it was very calm and peaceful up in the clouds.? The view was great in between the clouds overlooking the whole of Quito.? I walked a little higher to take some photographs to show helen what she'd missed but the altitude really started to take its toll on me, so headed back down after about 10 minutes.

We managed to hail a taxi back down to Plaza Grande where we wandered around the old town? and the pesidential palace, then?went shopping then headed back to the hostel as its getting muggy again in the afternoon, so far no thunderstorm today....but its still earlier?

We're heading out again tonight, so update again soon.
