After breakfast we started our long journey home. Initially this meant driving to the ferry to get us back to the mainland and then on to Puerto Montt airport. We were relieved when the car hire company said there was no damage to the car.
To pass the time we ate lunch at a restaurant that seemed to have run out of pizzas, chips... we settled for a large veggie sandwich. When they had no chips, they offered us Chicken nuggets instead! Bizarrely, some people who ordered after us got chips.
The flight to Santiago was on time and then there was more time to pass. We made our way to a burger bar which was all red leatherette and chrome. They sold veggie burgers but had sold out. After trying some other options (also sold out), we settled for cheese and chips but the chips were cold and the yellow, puss-like sauce had mostlikely never seen cheese.
The flight to Madrid was uneventful, but without any at seat entertainment, which made it a long flight.
The transfer to London was short and Joan had a G&T.
After retrieving our bags we caught a hotel shuttle to T5 Holday Inn, where we got what we ordered (filo pastry) and enjoyed a wine.
