I went for a tour of the USS Midway Museum which is just down the road from the hotel. There were a number of guides who had previously served on the ship which was good. Off to the zoo! The place is huge...too difficult to walk it all...thankfully they have a shuttle bus to take you to particular stops. The highlight of the day was seeing an amazing Grizzly Bear playing in the water and rubbing his back on the wall. There was a Visitors Centre right across the road from the hotel where we were able to buy City Passes which included 3 days at Disneyland and California Adventure and 1 day at Sea World and Universal Studios. We also bought separate tickets for the San Diego Zoo. Had another big day's drive today from Las Vegas to San Diego. On the way, we stumbled across Calico Ghost Town which is a fairly authentic historic western town on the site of an old silver mine. We enjoyed it a lot although stopping there did set us back a few hours.We eventually arrived in San Diego late in the afternoon and checked in to our accommodation at the Holiday Inn on the Bay.
