Kelly & Mac in Asia :)
Hey Petals,
Hoi An is another beautiful town and another UNESCO heritage site. Set on the banks of the Thu Bon River, it used to be a trading port as far back as the 17th century. The old town is amazing with narrow streets and an unusual mix of Oriential and European architecture...or so the guidebook sez!
The food seems to be getting fresher as we head South. Hoi An has a few specialities to try: White Rose is a steamed dumpling stuffed with prawn, nothing like English dumplings mind you! They also fry a mean wonton with chunky vegetable sauce, all washed down with Beer Larue (not as nice as Beer Lao!)
The Hotel staff advised us not to wander the streets late at night...and most places close by 11pm. This might have helped us to save money, but we have still hammered our budget by ordering some made to measure clothes. Im not too impressed with my dresses, but they will do fine for the beach.
Michael and I are getting along brilliantly as ever, it's been lovely to spend so much time together and we only get snappy after those 12 hour bus journeys :( Our biggest bust up happened in Hanoi when he had his hair shaved off...I was upset for a few days but will have to get used to it!
We have to travel 12 hours south tonight, but it will be worth it when I hit the beach!
Big Love petals K&M x
ps...Thanks for the tip Tiny, Mac is well into Long Island iced tea at the moment so will be in the Sailing Club for Happy Hour!
