Kelly & Mac in Asia :)
Hey Petals!
Nha Trang is lovely...our first beach resort! It used to be the place to be for the American GI\'s during the war, at night the beach is still full of lovely ladies offering to \'love you longtime\'!
The overnight bus journey here was the worst ever. We had some really unusual Vietnamese blokes sat infront of us, they didnt wrestle and giggle at eachother the whole way mind you...the rest of their time was divided between snoring, farting and turning right around in their seats to stare and smile at us!
The driving out here is very scary. The bus drivers cane the super strength Redbull and drive hunched over the wheel, chewing their cheeks with eyes popping, honking the horn every thirty seconds or so, giving the gas pedal a healthy pump each time! But i cant say too much as It will only make my Grandma worry. Needless to say its the train for us from now on :)
Our first day was spent sunbathing, the weather started out hot hot hot! But we were sensible and stayed in the the shade for the most part. That afternoon it started to rain...really lash down, but it was still lovely and warm so we stayed on the deserted beach and played in the waves with some local kids! The next day Mac\'s shoulders were lobster red and I had the most attractive \'tourist tan\' with milk bottle white bikini strap marks...not a good look!
I spent the next four days getting my PADI Open Water Scuba certificate. Mac couldn\'t join me because of his asthma, We were really disapointed, but its better to be safe than to suffer a horrible death at the bottom of the sea right?!
I have to say that those four days were soooo hard. I came close to giving it all up loads of times, but didn\'t want to let Michael down so i kept on! Im the worlds weakest swimmer, and have a strange fear of getting salty water in my eyes...taking my mask off underwater made me cry, which is difficult to do with a breathing regulator in your mouth!
In the end it was more than worth it! Saw eels, Lion fish, titan trigger fish and so much beautiful coral. Plan to do another dive when we hit the islands so will let you know how it goes!
In other news...Mac ate some dodgy prawns and faced that awful dilemma of not knowing which way to face the toilet! He is kind of on the mend now, but even the thought of yellow curry makes him feel sick!
Our next stop is Saigon.
big love petals k&m xx
