This morning we got up to our last morning at Labelle Downs Station, we were all a bit sad to be leaving, but all good things come to an end and our experiences will be in our memories forever!
On our way home we stopped in at Wangi Falls for a refreshing swim. The Wangi River is inhabited with Fresh-water Crocodiles but they don't usually bother people unless they feel threatened. Saltwater Crocodiles can enter the Wangi River early in the Dry Season, but they are removed prior to the swimming area being opened.
When we got there it was perfect, hardly any people, the water was crystal clear and the sun was not too hot! Matt and Daniel swam across and played under the waterfall before swimming to a natural bath carved out in the cliff face. Unfortunately as Lochie and I were climbing up to Matt and Daniel in the bath, Lochie slipped on the smooth rock face and fell about 2m into the main swimming pool. I immediately jumped in after him and held him up before his head went under! A scary moment for both of us, but Lochie didn't even cry, he just said, "I don't want to do that again Daddy!"
After our cool off we had lunch in a small community called Batchelor. Batchelor is a very green town with well watered parks and roadside areas, but the town is very limited for supplies. It was quite ironic seeing a sign saying 'Alcohol Free Area' and the first building we came across was a Pub! After our lunch stop we headed back to Darwin for a rest after our busy weekend!
