We left Cebu's crazy city on the 13th and headed to the other side of the island the west coast, to a small town called Moalboal. Well in fact we had booked a beach hut in the next town up, so when we arrived our nice taxi driver informed us there are no tourists here and he doesn't know if it's to good for us to be staying here. We had already paid for our room so we took a look anyway, he found the beach and asked locals for the location of our room, they said it was a five minute walk down the beech. So myself Katie and the taxi driver loaded up with our backpacks etc and set off down the beach to find our room, when we got there the owner could not speak a word to us the room was a tiny dirty room on the beach without any bathroom or even locks on the doors, me and Kate looked at each other and thought no way we would be stranded here for a few days and the taxi driver didn't even think it was safe for us, so we did no more and walked back to the taxi and set off for Moalboal. The taxi driver was great he took us to the town and searched for a room for us, he even took us in to make sure we was happy and the room was clean. Absolute legend.
After that saga we found a lovely place right on the beach its stunning, there are quite a few travellers here but also locals getting on with the lives in their little village it's great. The next day we was up early to swim with the whale sharks, they were on the other side of the island in a place called oslob.
They were huge, it was soo good to see and swim with them in their natural habitat, they were so graceful in the water and didn't mind us swimming around them, we loved it.
Whilst there we met two couples from Sydney who were staying in our village, so when we all got back we showered and booked tables in a resultant on the beach for dinner, then headed to a couple of bars we had a great night with them, and think we were all a bit tender the next morning lol. Thanks Noel, Kelsey, Liam and Jordan for a good night.
The next day I met the boys and we went scuba diving, we saw a couple of turtles and the amazing sardine run, there were millions of them, it was like a huge black cloud in the water and as you swam through them they parted and swam around you. It was quality, unfortunately there was a strong current so we only had about half hour out there. Today we went on a canyoning tour, basically we had motorbikes take us to the top of a canyon, we hiked down for about 20mins until we found the river and waterfalls. So straight away we had to jump off the waterfall to start our tour through the canyon, and that's how we continued swimming through the canyon, jumping off the rocks and riding natural water slides in the rocks in was great. There was one huge one it was about a 12m jump into the river and we both chickened out unfortunately, trust me it was high and the six meter ones were scary lol but we managed them. Another great day, tomorrow we are going to chill on our beach for the day as we are leaving Cebu on Thursday and heading to another island, Borocay where we plan to spend about two weeks there.
We have had a great time here in Moalboal, met some quality people, mixed with the locals, seen some beautiful sunsets but our highlight swimming with the whale sharks. We have so much more to see here so we on the move again lol
