Arrived in Auckland yesterday finally after our killer of a journey, once leaving the airport after dodging customs as I was smuggling too much tobacco we picked up our little car and made our way to the first hostel which I must say wasn't a great start as it was a bit of a s*** hole!!! On the upside it was in a great location on a strip of funky bars and restaurants where we immediately got involved and met a some decent locals. By about 7 we were well on our way and both decided we had enough before we got to messy as we had a long drive early in the morning, so went back to the hostel and was spark out by 9:00.

This morning we woke up early checked out and was on the road by 8:30 heading north to the bay of islands
The weather was s*** by the way it was raining and I mean hard and that's how it stayed all day today unfortunately so no decent pictures today. We did stop at a place called watimo caves were we see loads of glow worms inside which was good. After leaving there kate f***ed up with the sat nav some how and our 3hr drive turned into 5
Once arriving to our next hostel which was a lot nicer than the last we bought a couple of umbrellas and went for a walk down the beach, we were gutted, all the photos I've seen of this place looked amazing but due to the rain it was dull and miserable. Thought it was summer hear!!!! So with this we decided to go back and pre book the rest of our accommodation for our trip in the north island and slightly blew our budget lol. This evening we decided to treat ourselves to a take away Indian you should have seen the look on the other backpackers faces when they were cooking their pastas and we rolled in with a nice Indian and laid that out on the table. Anyway hope tomorrow is a better day than today weather wise and we can sail round the islands ps thanks Pete the travel towels have been well handy
