We have been in Queens Town for the last 4 days, and have to say it's nice to be back in the sun, here's what we got up too.
The first day we checked in to our lodge which over looked the lake and mountains called The Remarkables, they were amazing!!
We had a drive into town as we had to change out sat nav as the last one broke. We had a walk around the town and found a nice Thai restaurant the food was so good. Queens town is the busiest place we have been too yet there is soo much to do here and the scenery is stunning.
The second day we headed back in to town , had a walk around the lake where there was a market, me and Dave got his and hers Buddha bracelets lol, we went and got lunch at a place called Fergburger, which is a famous burger place in Queens town, the queues are out the door all day it is open from 8am -5am and is always busy the queues are at least half hour long all the time, well we can both say the burgers were amazing, I had the classic Fergburger and Dave of course got a double Fergburger lol, it was the best burger we have had, Munch !!!
We had a cruise on the lake booked that afternoon, which was really nice, they took us passed the million dollar houses and round the part of the lake as it was huge and our tour was 2hrs, we also found out the lake is 360m deep and flat as a pancake on the bottom. There is one part of the lake where the water is so pure that It doesn't even conduct electricity
( apparently ) it is also purer than any bottle water you can buy from a shop. The water is so clear it is beautiful , queens town is defiantly the place to be.
After the cruise we went and sat by the lake and had a few drinks it was so hot that day , it was so nice just sitting chilling by the lake in the sun and the vibe was cool, people playing guitars on the beech and walking on tightropes between trees
That night we went up on the skyline ghondola which takes you to the top of the mountain it was so high and the views were amazing, we sat up there to watch the sun set and had a couple of drinks
We headed back down and went to a few more bars and clubs we had a pukka night ( I was a little drunk lol )
The third day we had a bit of a hangover so had a little lay in, we had a shot over jet booked at 13:00, at the kawarua gorge where bear grilles filmed one of his programmes climbing across the gorge on a wire, he made out it was high but wasn't as high as he made out, also said he camped over night on the mountains but he had a £1000 night hotel booked in Queens town.
A few scenes from lord of the rings was also filmed there.
When we arrived it was so hot and we was still feeling a bit rough but the boat definitely sorted us out , OMG it was pukka, it was only us and another couple we got thrown all over the place, he done 360 turns, drove so fast next to the rocks , most of the time I was clung to daves arm lol, we was soaked when we got off but it amazing.
That night we drove 3 hours and stayed in bluff as we had a shark diving experience booked for the next day with great white sharks.
On the drive down like 10 mins after we left Dave got pulled by police for speeding 122kmh in a 100kmh zone $170 fine, fuming !!!!!
The fourth day we was up at 6am to get on our shark diving boat.
The boat set of at half 7 I was just watching from the boat and Dave was diving so got all the diving gear.
The driver drove to where the great white sharks are but couldn't get where he wanted too as there was swimmers crossing the straight in the path and could risk them getting caught in trail, but set a trail of tuna as best he could and drove to another location to lure them in as you can't get in cage there due to restrictions, well we waited until 5pm that night and unfortunately the Sharks where a no show which was gutting, but we are going back in Thursday 4th to try again, so fingers crossed we get to see them.
Dave was fuming lol.
We finally got off the boat about 6pm after a long day and headed back to queens town another 3 hours drive, after getting food we finally got home about half 10, we was both knackered.
Next stop Milford sound and the fiordlands national park.
